Our Learning Engagement Approach
At Rototuna Primary School we believe all students can learn, and we work to support all students in becoming confident, connected, actively involved life long learners.
When students make poor choices or behave in ways that interrupt the learning of others we take every step to quickly re-engage them in learning. While there are situations that call for an individual approach, our general response is a 4 step process:
A verbal warning.
Thinking & reflection time: In a space inside the classroom.
Thinking & reflection time: In an arranged buddy class. We will make contact and communicate with parents at this stage.
Working in partnership with a member of the leadership team.
In all cases the home-school partnership is critical to the learning success of students, and parent support is very much appreciated.
