Board of Trustees -  Information

The Board comprises five parent representatives, who are elected every three years by the parent community, the Principal, and a staff representative.  It controls the governance of the school, although day to day administration is delegated, and sets the principal long and short term objectives through the charter and the strategic and annual plans.

The Board monitors performance - including student achievement - against the objectives and national guidelines.  It determines major policies, sets the budget and ensures that the school is financially sound and decides how property funding is to be used.

Board meetings are held in public and open to any interested party to attend.  The provisions of Part 7 of the Local Government Official Information and Meeting Act 1987 apply.  The Presiding Member chairs the meeting and his/her decision on procedural matters is final.

Members of the public are entitled to receive copies of the meeting agenda and relevant papers, attend the meeting to watch and listen, and take notes. However, they are not entitled to:
  • take part in the meeting by word or action (unless the Board resolves to grant them speaking rights),
  • communicate with trustees during the meeting (unless the trustee leaves the meeting),
  • remain in the meeting room when the Board meeting goes ‘in committee’.

Minutes of the Board Meetings are available for viewing at the office.
