Kia Ora Whānau What a busy couple of weeks we have had since our last newsletter!
Last week, the Hamilton City Council supported us with an outstanding week of Transport Safety activities. We had Ruben the Safety Bear, Scooter Safety, Bike Safety and WOW day where the students won spot prizes for walking or wheeling to school! Thanks so much to Barbara and Cameron for their very valued support of our kura. The PTA Colour Run was a fantastic event with lots of very colourful and happy students. A massive thank you to the PTA for their never-ending energy and enthusiasm in creating some wonderful events for our community. The Year 6 team have enjoyed two successful days at Mount Maunganui participating in Beach Education. I have received reports from both trips of how well behaved and responsible the students have been. This makes me very proud of Rototuna Primary School. How cool is it having a bunch of Year 5 students who are so keen to show their support of our Culture of Manaaki! This group of students have spent their lunchtimes getting fellow students to sign a Maanaki chart that said "If you are kind, then sign!" There are SO many signatures! It was the best way to end the week having this delivered to my office with a hand written note. I have put it on the wall directly outside my office and look at it often during my day to remind me of how lucky I am to work in a kura that has so many kind students!
The Year 3 and 4 Athletics event was a hit yesterday! The students were so encouraging and gave every activity their very best. A big thank you to all the parents who came to support our athletes and to Anna Beveridge and the Year 3 and 4 team for their organisation.
To our whānau who are celebrating Diwali... May the festival of lights brighten your life and bring you moments of joy. Happy Diwali to you and your family from the Rototuna Primary School staff and students.
Kia pai tō ra koutou Enjoy your day everyone, Kylie

Extra Learning Opportunties
We get asked from time to time what extra opportunities we offer our students at Rototuna Primary School. At Rototuna Primary School we pride ourselves on providing a range of rich opportunities that allow ākonga to thrive by pursuing their different 'smarts' - their passions, interests and talents.
You can find out more about our Extra Learning Opportunities by clicking on the link below:
Class Placement organisation for 2024 has begun. We have a robust process that includes using a clustering model which supports the relationships that students have already formed with their peers. This means, that we cluster groups of students from each class together when organising the new class for the next year.
Team Leaders and classroom teachers will be working in collaboration to organise placement of students for 2024. This process takes time and will be finalised at end of an 8 week process as they give careful consideration to many different dimensions of organising classrooms within a school.
If your child is not going to be attending Rototuna Primary School in 2024 can you please let the office know by emailing Delwyn at reception@rototunaprimary.school.nz
Thank you!

ERO
We have had notification of an Education Review Office (ERO) Te Ara Huarau Evaluation. ERO began implementing a new approach to school evaluation in February 2021. Although ERO’s accountability function has not changed, the focus of the approach is school improvement with ERO and our school working together to ensure all learners in our system are successful. Our school evaluation partner is Judith Smallbone. Judith will be working with us and our school community over the next couple of years.
Judith is visiting our school for the first time on Tuesday 21 November.
The main purpose of Judith’s first visit is to introduce herself, hear about our school and have a quick tour to help her understand the context we are working in. Judith would also like to hear what the focus of our school has been over 2023 and how we think this has gone, and what our early Strategic planning for 2024 could be looking like. ERO's evaluation focus will be aligned with the identified needs of our school. We look forward to working in partnership with Judith.
