WOW Week
A couple of weeks ago the whole school got involved in WOW week which was kindly supported by the Hamilton City Council. Our student leaders were busy giving out tickets for all those students who biked, walked or wheeled to school and they went into the draw to win some incredible prizes that the Hamilton City Council provided - thanks Cameron! These prizes included Family Zoo Passes, Waterworld Passes, Duck Island Icecream Vouchers, Umbrellas and some prize packages which included drink bottles. Massive thank you to Miss Anderson for organising this week and it was incredible to see everyone choosing to walk or wheel to school. Classes had great fun having a wheels day at school to celebrate WOW week too!
Cultural Evening
What a fabulous cultural evening we had two weeks ago. Congratulations to all the students who took part. It was fantastic to have this event back on our annual calendar. The hall was packed and teachers and students showcased their talents! We even had a parent who supported the band by playing cello!
Massive thanks to Ngahuia Nuri, Vanessa Matai'a, Bethany Mitchell, Morgan Lewis and Emma Douglas for their commitment to providing extra opportunities for our students. It was a very proud moment for our kura!
One of the most awesome things about putting on an event like the cultural evening is the support of staff. It really brings one of our guiding whakatauki alive: He waka eke noa. Without us all being in this together, events like the Cultural event would not be a success. Big thanks to the following staff who gave of their time to support our students and their colleagues: Amber, Anna P,Steph (and her children), Anna B, Jane, SInead, Kayla, Sophie, Sherrin, Deanna and Piper and Stacey. THANK YOU!
Lastly, a massive thank you to GeorgiaRobb for her organisation of the event. She did a fabulous job!
Amazing Race
We were super proud of our Amazing Race team who represented Rototuna Primary School last week at the WILSS Amazing Race which was held at the Hamilton Rose Gardens. There were 75 teams from across the Waikato demonstrating their team work, and problem-solving skills, led and facilitated by secondary school students from Hillcrest and Hamilton Girls High Schools. OUr incredible team took out 3rd place which is an outstanding result!
He waka eke noa - We are all in this together
Celebrating in Mrs Morris's office on their return to school. Haven is holding their certificate!
School Uniform 2025 Update
The Board of Trustees has made a change to the shoe regulations for our school uniform next year. Students are able to wear black crocs with no gibbets. We hope parents will appreciate this this change as we know crocs are very popular footwear.
Our school uniform will be available to purchase from The Brand Makers, either in store or online from January 2025.
The presentation of the Enviro School Silver Award
Last week, Sarah Hansen and her Enviro leaders were awarded the SILVER Enviro Schools award for their mahi (work) in our school environment and beyond. The school leaders took us on a school tour where they shared their incredible mahi and projects. We are super proud of their efforts and connects with the Mangaiti Gully team, Enviro School team, Hamilton City Council team and Bernie (our past Enviro leader). The students proudly represented our school and the silver award was well deserved!
ICAS High Distinction
Congratulations to Bruce Wang for. achieving High Distinction award in the ICAS Mathematics Competition . High distinction is awarded to students who achieved in the top 1% of participants. This is a remarkable achievement - we are very proud of you Bruce!
Class Placement 2025
Class Placement organisation for 2025 has begun. We have a robust process which includes using a clustering model which supports the relationships that students have already formed with their peers. This means, that we cluster groups of students from each class together when organising the new class for the next year.
Team Leaders and classroom teachers will be working in collaboration to organise placement of students for 2024. This process takes time and will be finalised at end of an 8 week process as they give careful consideration to many different dimensions of organising classrooms within a school.
If your child will be starting school in 2025 please enrol your child as soon as possible. This helps us organise our class sizes for 2025. You can do an online enrolment - refer to the link below.
If your child is not going to be attending Rototuna Primary School in 2025 can you please let the office know by emailing Delwyn at reception@rototunaprimary.school.nz

Sunhats
Our sunhat policy comes into effect on Tuesday 29 October (after Labour Weekend), for the rest of Term 4. We require students to wear hats whenever they are outside and involved in school activities. Students without a hat must remain in an allocated shaded area at break times.
Remember, our sunhat policy is a little bit different this year. Hats must be legionnaire/bucket hats or caps. Caps must be worn so that they provide protection to the eyes. Students who wear cultural head dress (eg hijab and patka) are exempt from wearing a sunhat, if their parents choose this for them.
Next year, students will be required to the school uniform hat or cap.
Policy Review
The following policies are due for review in Term 4:
Finance and Asset Management Policy
